Access
of data – a major problem in publications is the decentralisation
of data and “the right hand not knowing what the left hand
is doing”. For example, sales not talking to admin who does
not talk to subscriptions. Centralising and sharing data is key.
Speed
of deployment and ease of modification. Publishing is an extremely
fast moving industry. Special offers, changes, commission structures
all change regularly.
Cross
platform issues – FMPro being cross platform negates this
issue. Designer who work on Macs can finally access centralised
databases with no problem
Ease
of connection and data migration. To connect FMP existing databases
is not difficult. Creatives don’t like Windows and hate office
stuff. With FMP, the interface is familiar and we can make it as
“easy” or “pretty” as they want it.....they
could even design their own frontend/layouts
Low
maintenance costs. PPX2 is easy to modify. You don’t need
a PhD to maintain it and
add/modify small things. Thus, support costs are lower.
